NTFB Hosts Record Breaking Taste of the Cowboys Event!

May 07, 2018
by Liana Solis

Enthusiastic Food Bank supporters descended on the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco for an evening of delicious food, football, music and fun. Our partners at the Dallas Cowboys helped the Food Bank raise more than $530,000, which will help provide more than 1.5 million meals to hungry kids across our 13 county service area.

The concept for coupling football with food to fight food insecurity started in 1992 when Taste of the NFL Founder and culinary entrepreneur, Wayne Kostroski launched this innovative initiative. Chef Kent Rathbun brought the idea to life locally in 2005, hosting a tailgate event in the parking lot of his restaurant. Fast forward to today, and Taste of the Cowboys has helped raise more than $3 million for the North Texas Food Bank.

More than 13 years later, the need for food assistance in our region is still very real. In fact, one out of every 4 children is food insecure, meaning that they don’t know where their next meal will come from. The funds raised at Taste of the Cowboys help meet the need for hungry kids across North Texas.

As we look forward to next year’s event, it is fitting to give thanks to those that made Taste of Cowboys 2018 so successful.

This record breaking event was made possible thanks to generous sponsors including our presenting sponsor Caliber Collision, Lockheed Martin, Albertson/Tom Thumb, American Airlines, the North Texas Food Bank Indo-American Council, 4 Change Energy, Dean Foods Foundation, Exxon Mobil, HILTI, KPMG, Omni Hotels and Resorts Frisco, Pollock, The CFO Suite, Bank of America, Dairy MAX, Legends, Raising Canes, media sponsor CBS, Cherry Blow Dry Bar, Concrete Cowboy, Deja Blue, Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits, Dunkin Donuts, Kendra Scott, Miller Lite, Pepsi, and TEED Shirts.

Of course, for our event guests, it is all about the entertainment as well as the food; this year’s helpings did not disappoint. Thank you to each of the chefs that came together for this important cause, representing the following restaurants:

Asador
BIRD Bakery
Bulla Gastrobar
